DePaul Off to a Strong Start at Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa - Stephanie Hughes and Terah Cheatham of the DePaul women's track and field team got this weekend's action underway, racing at the Drake Relays.  The Blue Demons continue competition in Iowa on Friday and Saturday.  In addition, a portion of the team travels to Milwaukee, Wis. on Saturday for the Marquette Twilight.

Hughes, a distance specialist, represented DePaul in the women's 10,000m.  She placed 11th behind a time of 37:56.57.  Earlier this season, the junior clocked a career-best time of 37:22.14 at the Chicagoland Championship.

In the second and final race for the Blue Demons on opening day, Cheatham placed 16th in the 3,000m steeplechase.  Her time of 11:06.94 is her second fastest time of her senior campaign, and meets the BIG EAST Conference qualifying standard.

The Blue Demons continue tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. (CST), when Idia Omogiate, Brittany Lewis, Ivy Moffett and Lindsey Holden get the day started with the 4x100m relay.
