Greeley and Moffett Place in Top Five at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – Megan Greeley continued her strong outdoor season with a fourth place finish in the javelin on Thursday afternoon. Erin Moffett also turned in a top five finish in the women’s 10,000-meter run.
Greeley’s season-best distance of 44.84 meters just missed her own school record of 44.91 meters set in 2001. The senior finished fourth out of 29 competitors.
Moffett provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships with a time of 35:00.47 in the women’s 10,000-meter run. She placed fifth out of 29 runners. Moffett holds DePaul’s school record in the event with a time of 34:29.41 set last season.
On the men’s side, Luis Samayoa competed in the men’s 10,000-meter run. He finished 28th with a time of 31:23.58. Former DePaul runner and current assistant coach Chris Birchall ran the 10,000 meters in the Olympic Development division. He took third place with a time of 29:27.94.
Jarrod Jahnke wraps up the action for DePaul on Saturday in the men’s hammer throw. He is scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m. EST.
Also on Saturday, DePaul will be in action at the Boilermaker Invitational. Twenty-six student-athletes travel to West Lafayette, Ind. this weekend. The Blue Demons will square off against Ball State, Illinois, Illinois-Chicago, Indiana, IPFW, Kent State, Marquette, Notre Dame and Valparaiso.
