TAMPA, Fla. – With the conclusion of the regular season last weekend, the DePaul track and field team heads to Tampa, Fla., this weekend for the BIG EAST Conference Outdoor Championships. Those qualifying Blue Demons are set to compete Friday through Sunday at the USF Track Stadium.

First up for DePaul on Friday is the women’s hammer throw where both Alanna Kovacs and Melissa Fraser begin at 11 a.m. CST. Friday night concludes with running events as both Jacqueline Kasal and Matthew Graham take on the 3,000-meter steeplechase beginning at 7:30 p.m.

While the Blue Demons compete in just two events on Friday, Saturday and Sunday are both full schedules for DePaul. In the field events, Adam Kovacs opens with the men’s javelin throw before sister Alanna and Fraser compete on the women’s side of the javelin at 1:30 p.m. Freshman Joe Boesso follows in the high jump at 3:30 p.m. before Matt Babicz and reigning BIG EAST Male Field Athlete of the Week Tim Nedow take on the shot put at 4 p.m. Alanna Kovacs follows in the women’s event at 6 p.m. to close out the field events.

Several Blue demons are set to compete in the preliminary running events on Saturday beginning with the men’s and women’s 1,500-meter races at 3:30 p.m. The 400-meter dash is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. before the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles. The Blue Demons conclude Saturday with Ayesha Ewing’s 200-meter dash race.

Sunday opens up with 9 a.m. field events as Nedow and Babicz take on the discus. The women’s discus goes off two hours later with Alanna Kovacs, Amanda Piche, and Jazmyne Durrah all qualifying. Should those Blue Demons make it through the preliminary race, Sunday houses all of the finals races. The meet concludes on Sunday afternoon with the relay events—first the 4x800-meter race and then the 4x400-meter races.
