Men's Track Places Fifth at Western Michigan



KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The DePaul track and field team placed fifth out of eight teams at the 78th annual Central Collegiate Conference Championships on Saturday.  Eastern Michigan took the team title while host Western Michigan was second.

 

Larry Inanga was the to Blue Demons finisher by winning the 400-meter dash.  His time of  47.62 established a season-best mark for DePaul.  Siddiqu Muhammad finished fifth with a time of 49.05.

 

Jarrod Jahnke also set a season-best mark in the shot put as did Gavin Kennedy in the 1,500-meter run.  Jahnke’s distance of 54.80 meters placed him second while Kennedy’s time of 3:52.92 was good enough for third.  Donnie Warner followed Kennedy in the 1,500 at 3:57.56 for fourth place.

 

Jamal Corneilus placed fifth in the 100-meter dash after qualifying eighth in the prelims.  He posted a preliminary time of 11.13 before coming back to run a 10.91 in the finals.  Cornelius also tallied a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash at 22.35.

 

Ben Cooke and Kai Murray took fourth and fifth lace in the 800-meter run.  Cooke’s time of 1:53.92 was followed by Murray at 1:54.06.
