Jahnke Defends C-USA Hammer Throw Title
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For the fifth straight year, a DePaul thrower won the men’s hammer throw title at the Conference USA Championships. Jarrod Jahnke defended his 2002 title with a season-best distance of 59.59 meters (195’2”). His first-place finish marks the fifth consecutive year a Blue Demon has won the event following Carey Ryan’s three-year title run.
Jahnke outdistanced runner-up Joe Swiderski of Louisville who finished with a mark of 52.67 meters (172’10”). Jahnke’s distance improved his qualifying position for the NCAA Regional meet at the end of May.
