Track and Field Closes Day One of the NCAA Mideast Regional
LOUISVILLE, Ky. Mary Cate Quiett was the lone competitor for the DePaul’s men’s and women’s track and field squads on day one of the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships on Friday. The meet continues tomorrow and features Alanna Kovacs, Brad Millar, and Joe Strawder. The women’s 800m trials saw Quiett place 15th out of 24 runners with a time of 2:10.56. It was the fifth time this season the sophomore logged a time under 2:11.00. Geena Gall of Michigan enters tomorrow’s final as the top seed after clocking a time today of 2:03.08. Quiett did not advance. This is the second time in as many years that the sophomore has made it to the Mideast Regional Championships in the 800m. Last season, she placed 13th overall behind a time of 2:09.33. Kovacs opens Saturday’s events at 10:00 a.m. (CST) in the women’s javelin throw. Also competing tomorrow for the Blue Demons are Brad Millar and Joe Strawder in the men’s hammer throw and triple jump, respectively.
