Kyle Decker Earns Academic All-District Honors for Second Straight Year
May 29, 2018

CHICAGO – DePaul track and field hurdler Kyle Decker was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Men’s Track/Cross Country First Team for his efforts both on the track and in the classroom. CoSIDA – the College Sports Information Directors of America – conducts the Academic All-District and All-American program each year.

With the first team recognition, Decker is placed on the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot with the teams announced in June.

Decker completed his junior season with his third straight outdoor BIG EAST title in the 110-meter hurdles while also holding a cumulative grade point average of 3.99 in his Biological Sciences major with a minor in Chemistry. He was one of 10 student-athletes selected for district five and one of three repeat honorees from a year ago.

During the indoor season, Decker also added his third straight BIG EAST Championship in the 60-meter hurdles. His winning time of 8.24 seconds was a personal best for the St. Charles, Ill., native. During the outdoor season, he recorded a personal best time of 14.49 in the 110-meter hurdles in the BIG EAST prelims before defending his title with a time of 14.56 in the finals.

This year’s honor is the second straight Academic All-District recognition for Decker. He could be the first Academic All-American for track and field since Tim Nedow earned Academic All-District and All-American honors in 2012.
