NCAA Championship Ahead for DePaul’s Kintyhtt

CHICAGO – DePaul track & field’s Trevor Kintyhtt has one more opportunity to represent the Blue Demons in his collegiate career when he throws in the discus event at the 2017 NCAA Track & Field Championships on Friday, June 9. The event takes place in Eugene, Ore. at 7:05 p.m. CT.

Kintyhtt, the first DePaul student-athlete to take part in the discus throw at the NCAA Championships in program history, is set to compete in the first flight of throwers and tosses ninth. The DePaul thrower is one of 13 seniors to throw on Friday out of 24 total competitors.

The Akron, Ohio native qualified for the NCAA Championship after placing 12th at the NCAA West Preliminary. Kintyhtt hit a personal record of 55.35 meters to register the top throw of his flight. Kintyhtt’s mark stood through two more flights and was just enough to get him to Eugene.

Reno Tuufuli of Iowa has the top seed mark coming into Friday with a throw of 62.06 meters.
