NEW ORLEANS – Melissa Fraser added another honor to her stellar career at DePaul on Wednesday.

Fraser represented the Blue Demons on the women’s USTFCCCA 2012 Division I Track & Field All-Academic Team announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The all-academic team is composed of 676 student-athletes representing 171 institutions.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 and have finished the indoor regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.

For the outdoor season, student-athletes must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).

Fraser competed in the javelin at the 2012 NCAA Track and Field Championships June 6 in Des Moines, Iowa after qualifying at the NCAA West Preliminaries May 26 in Austin, Texas.

She won the BIG EAST Conference Championships javelin title for the fourth year in a row and finished fourth this season in the hammer throw at the BIG EAST meet.

In early April, Fraser’s javelin throw of 54.24 meters was the second-best mark in the nation at the time.

Fraser joins Matt Babicz, Matthew Graham and Tim Nedow who were named to the men’s USTFCCCA Division I Track & Field All-Academic Team on Tuesday.
