Men's All-Academic | Women's All-Academic
NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced that both the DePaul men’s and women’s track and field teams have earned All-Academic status for their 2012 seasons.
To qualify for All-Academic status, teams must earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or better. On the men’s side, the Blue Demon squad finished with a GPA of 3.17 while the DePaul women’s track and field team finished with a GPA of 3.34 combined during the indoor and outdoor seasons.
A total of 85 men’s teams and 117 women’s teams garnered All-Academic status for their respective institutions. The BIG EAST Conference had 12 women’s squads merit All-Academic honors, the most among all conferences nationwide. The BIG EAST also had seven men’s teams make the list, which tied with the Ivy League for the highest total for any conference in the country.
Florida collected the title of men’s Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Scholar Team of the Year. Arkansas was named the women’s Indoor Track and Field Scholar Team of the Year and Stanford was named the women’s Outdoor Track and Field Scholar Team of the Year.
This announcement comes after DePaul student-athletes Matt Babicz, Matthew Graham, Tim Nedow and Melissa Fraser each earned individual USTFCCCA All-Academic distinction earlier in the week for their efforts in track and field and in the classroom.
