The Blue Demons Run Well in the BIG EAST Preview

CHICAGO- DePaul’s cross country team ran in the BIG EAST Preview Saturday morning in Jamesville, N.Y. The men’s team took second with Matthew Graham grabbing first place. The women’s team was led by Toni Salvatore who finished in third; the women’s team finished the meet in fourth.
Graham won his seventh consecutive regular season race with a time of 17:59.6 in the men’s 6k run. Eddie McDaniel was the second Blue Demon and 14th runner to cross the finish line with a time of 19:21.1. Max Rodrigues finished in 15th while Max Clink finished in 20th, Tyler Schmitt finished in 24th, Chris Miedema finished in 26th, Zak Koronkiewicz finished in 29th, Ian Sanchez finished in 31 and Brian Begalke finished in 35th.
Salvatore ran the women’s 5k race in a time of 19:11.9. Kimberly Remine crossed the finish line in 14th, Stephanie Hughes finished in 24th, Elena Sanz finished in 29th Mary Cate Quiett finished in 30th, Kelly Pickering finished in 35th and Claire O’Brien finished in 40th.
The Syracuse men's team posted the top team score with 20 points while the Blue Demons compiled 46 points and finished in second place. On the women's side, Syracuse again posted the top team score of 31 points. DePauls women compiled 90 points to finish in fourth.
The Blue Demons next meet is the National Catholic Championship on Friday, Sept. 17th. The meet takes place in Notre Dame, Ind. and will begin at 2 p.m.
