Rea and Pecorin Guide Blue Demons at National Catholic Invitational

CHICAGO - The DePaul cross country team placed eighth on the women's side with a score of 222 and seventh on the men's side with a score of 205 at the 39th Annual National Catholic Invitational on Friday afternoon. Both squads earned multiple top-50 performances at one of the most competitive meets in the country. 

Miranda Rea lead the Blue Demon pack in the women's varsity 5K. With a time of 18:42.8, Rea placed 26th overall, scoring 26. The DePaul women's squad jumped two places to eighth place from last season's tenth place finish. Rounding out the top-50 for DePaul include Jessica Harris placing in the 42nd slot (19:21.0) and Courtney Pickering in 48th place (19:26.1). Harris shaved off two seconds and Pickering cutting off over a minute from last year's meet. 

For the DePaul men's cross country team, Jake Pecorin rounded out the top-30 finishing 30th with a time of 26:27.5. Chris Korabik was just behind, finishing 31st with a time of 26:28.6. The Blue Demons reclaimed the seventh place slot at the meet after placing seventh last season as well. Noah Deck rounded out the top-50 for DePaul, clocking in at 26:43.2 to finish 39th.

Both teams will travel back to Notre Dame, Ind. in just two weeks for the Joe Piane Invitational. The meet will take place on Friday, Sept. 29.
