PEORIA, Ill.- For the second consecutive week, seniors Sean Conroy and Carrie Moffett paced the DePaul men’s and women’s cross country teams.  The men placed second while the women finished sixth at the Bradley Open in Detweiller Park.

Conroy finished second overall in the 8K Division I men’s race, posting a time of 25:13, just six seconds behind Northern Iowa’s Dorian Ulrey.  Freshman Luke Rygh was the second finisher for the Blue Demons, taking 13th with a time of 25:57.

DePaul’s top-five places in the men’s race were closed out as freshman Nick Schaefer finished 17th at 26:05 and was followed by freshman Jakub Kolacz in 20th and freshman Eoin Dunne in 21st, both of whom finished at 26:16.

“Conroy ran a good race and was our top finisher, but it was great to see four freshmen in our top-five spots.  We ran a longer course than last week at the UIC Opener, but we still improved our pace,” head coach Pat Savage said.

The men’s top-five posted a combined score of 73, while Indiana State took the Division I crown with a score of 42

Moffett crossed the finish line eighth in the 5K Division I women’s race with a time of 18:44, while freshman Terah Cheatham followed in 15th at 19:05.  Senior Kelly Cunningham finished with a time of 20:34 to take 37th and freshman Sabrina Petri followed close to place 40th at 20:45.  Senior Colleen Stiles-Shields closed out DePaul’s top-five women, placing 58th with a time of 21:59.

The women’s squad combined for a score of 144, while Indiana State topped the Division I standings with a score of 41.

The Blue Demons return to action Friday, September 15th in South Bend, Indiana at the National Catholic Invitational.
