Cross Country Teams Run at Great American Legends

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The DePaul cross country teams had a strong showing on Saturday morning at the second annual Great American Legends at Purdue University.  The men’s team placed third while the women’s squad was sixth.  Individually, Donnie Warner was sixth out of 87 male runners while Marlene Key was 11th out of 97 female competitors.

 

Key was the top finisher for DePaul in the women’s 5k race.  She finished with a time of 19:15.1 and was followed by Carrie Moffett in 26th.  Shelley Knight was the third DePaul finisher and was followed by Olivia Conlon, Emily Prettyman, Colleen Stiles-Shields and Trina Knight.  Eastern Kentucky’s Wendee Embry took first in the women’s race in a time of 18:39.5

The men’s team finished third overall behind the U.S. Naval Academy and Loyola-Chicago.  Warner was sixth overall in a time of 25:44.0 in the 8k race.  Gavin Kennedy finished second for the Blue Demons and was followed by Rick Britton, Anthony Beckneck, Kim Trieu, Darshan Patel and Armando Aguirre.  Loyola’s Robert Wade edged Joshua Sink of the Naval Academy for the individual title at 25:28.0.
