Cross Country to Race at Bradley Classic



CHICAGO The DePaul men’s and women’s cross country teams continue their seasons this Friday at the Bradley Classic in Peoria, Illinois.  The Blue Demons join more than 15 teams at the Newman Golf Course for a men’s 8K race at 4:15 p.m. (CST) and a women’s 6K race at 5 p.m.

DePaul enters a field of competition that includes intrastate teams Bradley, Eastern Illinois, Illinois State, UIC, Northwestern, Southern Illinois and Western Illinois.  Also joining the meet are out-of-state squads from Drake, Indiana State, Iowa, Iowa State, Missouri, Northern Iowa, Saint Louis, Southeast Missouri State, Wichita State and UW-Green Bay.

Claire Duck and Nick Schaefer have paced the Blue Demons in all four meets this season.  Most recently, Duck finished 17th at the Greater Louisville Classic with a 5K time of 17:54.  She has finished among the top 20 women in every meet while winning individual titles at the UIC Opener and the Fordham Invitational.  Schaefer placed 40th at the Greater Louisville Classic with a personal-best 8K time of 24:57 and won the men’s individual title at the UIC Opener.

DePaul’s last two meets have seen Mary Cate Quiett and Jakub Kolacz finish behind Duck and Schaefer.  Quiett finished 39th in Louisville with a 5K time of 18:29 and placed 12th at the National Catholic Championships with a 5K time of 18:21.  Kolacz took 65th place in Louisville with an 8K time of 25:23 and finished 33rd at the National Catholic Championships with a five-mile time of 26:13.

The Newman Golf Course is also the site of the 2007 NCAA Midwest Regional Championships.
