Cross Country Heads to New York for BIG EAST Championships



CHICAGO- The DePaul men’s and women’s cross country teams travel to New York City this weekend for the BIG EAST Championships.  Friday’s meet at Bronx’s Van Cortlandt Park begins with the women’s 6K at 12:30 p.m. followed by the men’s five mile at 1:10 p.m.

 

The Blue Demons will pace themselves against some of the nation’s top programs in the conference finale.  The men’s squad will face No. 7 Notre Dame, No. 12 Georgetown, and previously ranked Providence and Villanova.  The women’s team will line up against No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 19 Georgetown, No. 20 Providence, No. 25 Marquette and previously ranked Villanova.

 

Women’s captain Carrie Moffett has already paced DePaul four times this season, finishing her last 6K at the Bradley Invitational in 22:23.  On the men’s side, co-captain Anthony Becknek looks to lead after two top 10 finishes this season, while Kyle Ferry and Rob Morgan have developed a knack for running as a pair, finishing seconds apart in their last two races.

 

Friday’s meet is DePaul’s last stop before the November 12 NCAA Midwest Regional.  The BIG EAST Championships will be televised nationally November 13 where College Sports Television is available.
