CHICAGO- The DePaul men’s and women’s cross country teams travel to Boston this Friday for the BIG EAST Conference Championships in Franklin Park.  In their second season as a member of the BIG EAST, the Blue Demons line up with the best of the conference in a men’s 8K race at 10:00 a.m. (CST) and a women’s 6K trek at 10:50 a.m.

DePaul faces off against some of the nation’s top programs in the conference pinnacle.  The men’s squad runs with No. 12 Notre Dame, No. 16 Georgetown, No. 20 Providence, and No. 23 Louisville, while the women’s team paces itself with No. 12 Providence and No. 18 Georgetown.  The top 15 individuals in each race earn All-BIG EAST honors.

Senior Sean Conroy has paced the men’s team throughout the season, finishing second overall at the Bradley Open on Sept. 8, and sixth overall at the Notre Dame Invitational on Sept. 29 with an 8K time of 25:03.  The Blue Demons have also seen solid performances in several races from freshmen Luke Rygh and Jakub Kolacz.

The women’s squad has been paced by senior Carrie Moffett and freshman Terah Cheatham over the course of the season.  Moffett finished third overall at the UIC Opener on Sept. 2 and led the Blue Demons in the 6K race at the Bradley Classic on Oct. 13.  Cheatham paced the team at the National Catholic Championship on Sept. 15 and Notre Dame Invitational on Sept. 29.

At the 2005 Championships in New York City’s Van Courtland Park, the Blue Demons placed 13th in the women’s race and 14th in the men’s race.  Notre Dame took both team crowns, while the individual titles went to Fiona Crombie and Martin Fagan of Providence.
