The Blue Demons wrapped up their 2005 Cross Country season Saturday at the NCAA Midwest Regional. The men’s team finished 20th overall while the women’s team took 22nd at the Ashton Cross Country Course on the University of Iowa campus.
IOWA CITY, IOWA- The Blue Demons wrapped up their 2005 Cross Country season Saturday at the NCAA Midwest Regional. The men’s team finished 20th overall while the women’s team took 22nd at the Ashton Cross Country Course on the University of Iowa campus.
Women’s captain Carrie Moffett paced DePaul in the women’s 6K race, taking 58th place with a time of 23:00. Kelly Cunningham finished second for the Blue Demons, crossing the line at 24:20 to take 113th place. Also finishing for DePaul were Emily Prettyman, Colleen Stiles-Shields, Lizzie Stewart and Abbey Walters.
Men’s co-captain Anthony Becknek set the pace for DePaul in the men’s 10K race, finishing 52nd overall with a time of 32:43. Rob Morgan was the second Blue Demon to finish, coming in 120th place with a time of 35:04. Ryan Solomon, Dan Graca, and Kyle Ferry and Brian Godar finished the race as a pack, crossing the line in 136th, 138th, 139th, and 141st respectively.
Oklahoma State grabbed the Regional titles for both men’s and women’s races. The Cowboy’s men’s team finished their top four runners in the top 10 overall while all scoring Oklahoma State women finished in the top 25. The individual titles went to Minnesota’s Antonio Vega, who finished the 10K in 30:52 and Wichita State’s Desiraye Osburn, who finished the 6K in 20:43.
