Coaches Caravan Makes Noise at Lizzie McNeil's

Aug. 30, 2010

CHICAGO - The DePaul Coaches' Caravan received an enthusiastic welcome by the more than 300 fans, season ticket holders and former Blue Demon student-athletes on Thursday at Lizzie McNeil’s in Chicago’s River North neighborhood.  With live music playing outside, DePaul toasted to the upcoming 2010-11 season with coaches Oliver Purnell, Doug Bruno and athletics director Jean Lenti Ponsetto leading the crowd.

Coach Bruno was the first to address the capacity crowd and spoke about his veteran team and the need to fill McGrath Arena for every game this season while Coach Purnell said that a capacity crowd at Allstate Arena would make DePaul unstoppable.

The Coaches' Caravan makes its next stop on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at Trackside at Arlington Park. Coach Purnell will be on hand, while Bruno will with the Women’s USA National Team as they prepare for the FIBA World Championship Sept. 23-Oct. 3.

Interested alumni and fans wishing to attend the Rosemont stop of the Caravan are now encouraged to head to the Arlington Park stop on Sept. 8. The scheduled stop on Sept. 14 at Harry Caray's in Rosemont has been cancelled due to an unforeseen change in Coach Purnell's recruiting calendar.

Each of the remaining stops are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and each event costs $10 per person. The cost includes appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages. A cash bar will be available at each event.

To purchase your tickets or for more information, contact the DePaul Ticket Office at 773-325-SLAM (7526).
