Men's Soccer Celebrates Alumni Day on Saturday

CHICAGO – As of Tuesday, 10 members of DePaul’s 2007 NCAA tournament team have confirmed their return to campus Saturday highlighting the 2012 Men’s Soccer Alumni Day festivities at Wish Field.
Nathan Feltz, Andre Gutierrez, Willie Lara, Erich Reichmann, Peter Sterbenz, Eric Hermosillo, Alex Mangan, Jeff DeGroot, Brent Zang and current Blue Demon assistant coach Mark Plotkin were on coach Craig Blazer’s squad that advanced to the BIG EAST Conference semifinals preceding their selection to the NCAA tournament.
Included among the other former DePaul players who will be recognized at halftime of the Blue Demons’ BIG EAST match against St. John’s are Stephen Anthony, Bob Beard, Marek Ciszewski, Jack Cummins, Hovannes Kasparian, Bob Kruse, Mark Lara, Carmen Maugeri, James Nannini, Joe Owerko, Luke Rojo, Dimitri Rousseau, Chris Zimmer, Tony Zimmer, Edward Kron and Joe Ferrari.
Owerko is tied for first all-time in career goals, is second in career points and tied for fifth in career assists. Mangan is third in career assists, tied for fifth in career goals and tied for seventh in career points. Rojo is tied for 11th in career points while both Kasparian and Cummins are in the top 25 all-time in career points.
Tony Zimmer holds the school record for career starts and Nannini scored four goals in a match against Clarke in 1984.
Men’s soccer alumni will have a mid-morning scrimmage at Wish Field followed by a luncheon at noon. There will be speeches by DePaul Athletics Director Jean Lenti Ponsetto and men’s soccer coach Craig Blazer.
The Blue Demons take on St. John’s at 1 p.m. in their BIG EAST home opener.
