CHICAGO – The quest for a fifth consecutive regular-season conference title---unprecedented in DePaul women’s basketball history---begins on Dec. 28 with its BIG EAST opener against Seton Hall at McGrath-Phillips Arena.

The Blue Demons have won a regular-season title in every season since the BIG EAST was reconfigured in 2013-14.

Two days after the league opener, reigning BIG EAST Coach of the Year Doug Bruno’s team will play host to St. John’s.

The first big test of the conference season begins with a challenging stretch of three road games in seven days. It commences Jan. 4 at BIG EAST tournament champion Marquette, continues Jan. 7 at Providence and concludes Jan. 10 at Creighton.

The Blue Demons finished 8-1 in BIG EAST away games last season.

The schedule doesn’t ease up as DePaul faces Xavier on Jan. 12 at Wintrust Arena followed by a Jan. 14 matchup with Butler at the Blue Demon’s new home in the South Loop. That will wrap up a daunting stretch of five games in 11 days.

Next up are road games Jan. 19 at Villanova and Jan. 21 at Georgetown. The Blue Demons return to Lincoln Park for three consecutive home games Jan. 29 versus Marquette, Feb. 2 against Creighton and Feb. 4 vs. Providence.

It’s back on the road Feb. 9 at Butler followed by an away game Feb. 11 at Xavier. The final two regular-season home games are Feb. 16 against Georgetown and Feb. 18 vs. Villanova.

Bruno & Co. conclude the BIG EAST season Feb. 23 at St. John’s and Feb. 25 at Seton Hall.

  • DePaul is scheduled to appear on FS1 twice in the conference season (Jan. 29 vs. Marquette, Feb. 18 vs. Villanova) and twice on the CBS Sports Network (Jan. 14 vs. Butler, Jan. 21 at Georgetown). Women’s basketball will appear on the BIG EAST Digital Network 14 times.
  • The brand-new Wintrust Arena at McCormick Square will be the site of two BIG EAST games, Jan. 12 against Xavier and Jan. 14 versus Butler.
  • DePaul has racked up a 62-10 record the last four years for a .861 winning percentage.
  • The Blue Demons have a BIG EAST home record of 31-5 the last four years---also a .861 winning percentage.
  • A Blue Demon has been honored as the BIG EAST Player of the Year the last three seasons---Brittany Hrynko in 2015, Chanise Jenkins in 2016 and Brooke Schulte in 2017.
  • Bruno has been honored as BIG EAST Coach of the Year three of the last four seasons.
  • Winning regular-season conference titles four years in a row is a DePaul women’s basketball program best.
  • Last season, the Blue Demons led the BIG EAST in scoring offense, scoring margin, rebounding offense, assists, assist-turnover ratio and three-point field goals.
