Today In Blue Demon History:
On April 15, 2005, sophomore Ryan Thompson and senior Webster Jones hit BIG EAST qualifying marks to win jumping events as a select squad from the men’s track and field team competed at the Elmhurst College Invitational. Thompson started the day by reaching 6.75m in the long jump to take first place and pass the qualifying standard of 6.65m. The jump surpassed his previous best mark of the season, a March 25 distance of 6.67m. Jones followed Thompson’s lead by clearing the bar at 1.93m to win the high jump and eclipse the qualifying standard of 1.91m. His performance was also a personal best. Click here for the full story.

Track & Field: Zak Koronkiewicz came through with a winning performance for DePaul Friday night at the 24th Annual Lee Calhoun Memorial Invitational. The Blue Demon senior bested the field of 12 in the men's 5,000-meter run and crossed the finish line in 15:13.76---nearly 30 seconds ahead of runner-up Chase Marlow of host school Western Illinois. On Saturday it was Jackie Kasal, Sarah Gorden and Jazmyne Durrah led the way for DePaul on the final day of the Lee Calhoun Memorial Invitational at Western Illinois. Click here for the full update.
Men's Tennis: DePaul men's tennis got wins from the five and six spots, but it wasn't enough as the Blue Demons dropped a 5-2 match to home-standing Marquette on Friday at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium. With the loss, DePaul fell to 5-16 in dual match play. Marquette improved to 12-11 and 10-3 on its home court. Click here for the full story.
Golf: The DePaul men’s golf team closes out the regular season at Northwestern’s Kemper Sports Intercollegiate Spring Invitational, April 15-16, at The Glen Club in Glenview, Ill. The 14-team tournament features every NCAA DI program from Chicago and many more from around the Midwest. The field is comprised of Northwestern, Loyola, Chicago State, Bradley, Northern Illinois, Illinois State, Western Illinois, Marquette, IUPUI, Dayton, Ohio, Ohio State and St. John's. Women's Tennis: No. 73 DePaul women's tennis picked up its second BIG EAST win on Saturday, burying Cincinnati on the road in a 6-1 match at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center. However, the team finished its final regular season with a weekend split on Sunday, dropping a tight match, 4-3, against BIG EAST rival Louisville at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. With the setback, the Blue Demons wrap the dual match schedule with a 12-9 record (2-4 BIG EAST) after defeating Cincinnati, 6-1, on Saturday. Click here for the full story.
