CHICAGO - Join the BIG EAST Conference and DePaul Athletics in an effort to provide tickets and transportation to the 2014 BIG EAST Women's Softball Tournament, May 9-10 at the Ballpark at Rosemont---home of the Chicago Bandits pro softball team.

Modeled after DePaul's Field Trip Day program which provides a college experience for more than 5,000 disadvantaged Chicago-area students annually, the BIG EAST Transportation Initiative endeavors to present further opportunity for even more students to experience the excitement of BIG EAST softball.

After the success of the BIG EAST Women's Basketball Tournament hosted by DePaul at Allstate Arena, we are hoping to provide more memories through college softball.

"Providing access to high quality women's softball in Chicago was a big part of our decision to host the Big EAST tournament," said DePaul Associate Athletics Director Kathryn Statz. "This initiative underscores our commitment to providing a way for children who normally might not think about attending such an event to do so."

For as little as $90, supporters can sponsor one-fifth of a bus, while $450 can provide round-trip transportation to a group of Chicago-area youths.

The initiative will operate as an extension of the DePaul Athletics Community Service Program. All contributions will be tax deductible.

"I am excited that the athletic department, along with the help of its generous supporters, can once again be involved in allowing disadvantaged youth and other groups in the Chicago area to have the opportunity to experience the great atmosphere of college athletics," said DePaul Athletics Community Outreach administrator Dave Corzine. "Whether at a DePaul athletic event or a BIG EAST tournament, exposing kids to college athletics can be inspirational for them as they plan for their futures."
