Doug Bakker Promoted to Director of Athletics Compliance

CHICAGO - DePaul University announced today that Doug Bakker has been promoted to Director of Athletics Compliance. Bakker has worked in DePaul's compliance department since 2003 and was the assistant director since January 2005. "We're pleased to recognize Doug's continued commitment to serving all the various constituencies associated with the DePaul community with regard to our NCAA rules compliance program," said DePaul athletics director Jean Lenti Ponsetto. "He has grown at a rapid pace in our profession and we are pleased to recognize his leadership and commitment with this promotion to Director of Compliance." Prior to being named assistant director of compliance in 2005, Bakker started at DePaul as a graduate intern in 2003. He graduated from the DePaul Law School in 2005 and is currently pursuing his MBA from DePaul. "Doug Bakker has been with our program for five years and during that time has made it his goal to be excellent in all phases of NCAA compliance," said associate athletics director Kathryn Statz. "He works very hard to be accessible to our coaches and student-athletes and this promotion recognizes this drive and effort." Bakker works with all 15 programs at DePaul regarding all NCAA and BIG EAST rules and regulations. Additionally, he works with the Captains' Council and is a certified Peer Reviewer for the NCAA Certification Process.
