The 2012 Rev. Austin Minogue, C.M. Memorial Golf Outing was held July 30th at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in southwest suburban Lemont, home of the Blue Demon golf team.

The event has been a major source of funding for the DePaul golf program since the outing’s inception 16 years ago, and once again was a huge success.

The outing is organized by DePaul alumnus Ron Griggs with the help of fellow Blue Demon alum Michael Gammon. It is named for Rev. Austin Minogue, a former DePaul administrator and long-time golf coach for the Blue Demons, who passed away in 1998.

“Ron works really hard, and the Minogue Golf Outing has become a labor of love for him,” said Blue Demon golf coach Betty Kaufmann. “He is truly passionate about DePaul and everything DePaul stands for.”

The funds raised from the outing go towards an endowment that supports scholarships for the golf program. It also finances the Blue Demons’ on-campus and off-campus practice facilities.

“Ruffled Feathers houses our exclusive short game practice facility, and on campus the golf room houses a golf simulator and putting green,” Kaufmann said. “All of these are vital to the success of the student-athlete and has allowed us to recruit internationally while growing the program.”

In 2012, the golf team was recognized as the Division I Golf National Academic Champion for the third consecutive year. The Blue Demons recorded the highest cumulative team grade-point average (3.69) in the nation.

“All of our accomplishments happen because of the resources we have gotten with the Minogue,” Kaufmann said.

Hewlett-Packard was the title sponsor of the 2012 event, with IBM and Symantec as presenting sponsors.

DePaul sponsors included BMC Software, EMC Corporation, and Flexera. Eagle sponsors were Cisco, Akamai Technologies, Premium Concrete, and Premium Electric Service. DocuSign Reception sponsors were Precision Printing and Jim Wicklander.
