High School: Earned first team Class 4A All-State honors from the Las Vegas Review-Journal after averaging 21.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game as a senior... led Green Valley to Class 4A state semifinals with a 32-point game in the regional championship... named West region Player of the Week by ESPN.com following the 32-point effort... the Gators started the season at 4-11 before McDonald led the team to 13 wins in 14 games en route to the state semifinals... earned MVP honors for the Sunrise Region and All-Southeast League Team... played for Lorenzo Jarvis at Green Valley... also one of the nation's top prep high jumpers with a personal best mark of 7-0 as a senior... that height was ranked seventh in the nation in 2012... won the Nevada state high jump as a sophomore and was runner-up as a senior... spent junior year in Mississippi and claimed a 2011 Class 2A state title with Piney Woods High School... averaged 7.8 points and 6.5 assists per game... the Tornados finished the season with a 29-3 record after defeating Bruce, 64-48, in the championship game... also won the Mississippi state high jump title during junior year... played AAU basketball for Mitch Mitchell and Mad Moves Inc. and Wesley Reed and Henderson Heat.

Personal: Son of Darryl McDonald and Vernessa Reed... has five brothers and three sisters... brothers are Redale, Carl, Darryl Jr., Derrick and Darren... sisters are Denisha, Ericka and Dakota... father played at Texas A&M from 1986-88 and professionally in the CBA from 1990-93 before a career from 1994-2008 in Australia's NBL... also led a successful coaching career in the NBL... undecided on major.
