PHILADELPHIA – Third-ranked Villanova was too much to handle for visiting DePaul as the Blue Demons dropped a 93-62 decision on Wednesday night. Max Strus scored 21 points to lead the Blue Demons and Marin Maric added 12 points.

The Blue Demons played even over the first nine minutes behind Strus as his second three of the evening tied the score at 16-16. Villanova methodically took control of the game over the remainder of the opening half by outscoring DePaul, 30-14, for a 46-30 advantage at halftime.

Villanova (25-3, 12-3 BIG EAST) scored the first 10 points of the second half and never looked back as the Wildcats maintained control of the game over the remainder of the night.

Strus added six rebounds while Maric grabbed three boards. Brandon Cyrus added nine points for the Blue Demons.

Mikal Bridges led the Wildcats with a game-high 27 points and Eric Paschall added 16 points.

DePaul (10-17, 3-12 BIG EAST) returns to Wintrust Arena on Saturday against Marquette. The Blue Demons and Golden Eagles are scheduled for an 11 a.m. start on FOX Sports Networks and 670 The Score.
