Melvin Picked for BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Cleveland Melvin scored a season-high 30 points at Butler last week.

CHICAGO – DePaul senior forward Cleveland Melvin was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll following his efforts in games against Creighton and Butler last week. Melvin averaged 23.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots while shooting .714 (5-7) from three-point range and .577 (15-26) overall.

Against Creighton on Jan. 7, the Baltimore native scored 16 points with six rebounds, two blocked shots in 32 minutes. He followed that with a season-high 30 points at Butler on Jan. 9 while leading the Blue Demons to the double-overtime win. Melvin went 10-of-14 from the including a 3-of-4 effort from three-point range and added eight rebounds, two blocks and two assists in 45 minutes. He scored the game-tying basket with 20 seconds left in the second half to force overtime and his jumper in the second overtime with 45 seconds left was eventual game-winning basket.

Creighton’s Doug McDermott was the BIG EAST Player of the Week and Villanova’s Josh Hart was the Rookie of the Week. Joining Melvin on the honor roll was Georgetown’s D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera, Bryce Cotton from Providence, JayVaughn Pinkston of Villanova and Xavier’s Semaj Christon.
