CHICAGO - DePaul looks to put back-to-back BIG EAST wins together on Wednesday night when St. John’s visits Allstate Arena. The Blue Demons and Red Storm are scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start in Rosemont.

DePaul is 11-9 overall and 2-6 in BIG EAST play while St. John’s stands at 9-12 overall and 3-6 in league action. The two Vincentian universities (of just four in the world) meets for the 28th time on Wednesday and all of the action can be heard on WSCR 670 The Score in Chicago with Zach Zaidman (play-by-play) and Laurence Holmes (analyst) providing the audio description. The game will be televised on The U Too in Chicago as part of the BIG EAST Network with Mike Gleason (play-by-play) and Dickey Simpkins (analyst) calling the action courtside. For Chicagoland viewers watching with an antenna, the over-the-air digital position is The U Too 26.2. Chicagoland cable subscribers can see The U Too on Comcast 248, RCN 35 and WOW 170.

The St. John’s game opens a stretch of three games in six days for the Blue Demons. Following the St. John’s game on Wednesday, DePaul travels to Cincinnati for a Saturday night game at Fifth Third Arena. The Blue Demons return to Allstate Arena just over 48 hours later to face Marquette on Monday, Feb. 6. Start time for the DePaul-Marquette game is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Allstate Arena.

DePaul-St. John’s Share Common Mission: DePaul and St. John’s are two of four universities in the world founded by the Vincentians. DePaul, St. John’s and Niagara were founded in the 19th century in the United States and Adamson University, located in Manila, Philippines, was acquired by the Vincentians in 1964.

All four schools are based on the Vincentian values of service, justice, charity and advocacy and provide a college education to many first-generation college students.

Noting the Blue Demons: The men’s basketball program is 1,383-870 (.615) all-time... the Blue Demons have knocked down at least one three-pointer in 568 straight games... DePaul’s last game without a three was Feb. 16, 1993 against UAB at Allstate Arena... the Blue Demons are 310-137 (.694) all-time in Rosemont... DePaul is 6-1 (.857) all-time in games at McGrath-Phillips Arena... DePaul’s 9-3 start during the non-conference schedule was the best through 12 games since the 1999-00 squad also started 9-3... over the last 25 seasons, only three teams have started with nine or more wins in the first 12 games... the Blue Demons currently hold a seven-game winning streak against Chicagoland programs that includes victories over Chicago State, UIC, Loyola and Northern Illinois... in each of Oliver Purnell’s two seasons at DePaul, the Blue Demons have faced three Chicagoland opponents during the non-conference portion of the schedule with wins in each meeting... Cleveland Melvin and Brandon Young have each scored at least 20 points in five games this season... the Blue Demons are 3-2 in those games... DePaul is 7-0 this season with at least four players in double-figures and 4-1 with 10 or more three-pointers.

The Opponent - St. John's Red Storm: St. John’s enters Wednesday’s game at 9-12 overall and 3-6 in BIG EAST play... the Red Storm stepped out of league play on Saturday and dropped an 83-76 decision at Duke... a 78-62 win over West Virginia on Jan. 25 snapped a four-game skid that saw St. John’s drop games against Marquette (83-64), Georgetown (69-49), USF (64-49) and Villanova (79-76, OT)... Moe Harkless leads the team with 16.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per game... he picked up BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honors this week after posting a 30-point, 13-rebound double-double at Duke and a 23-point, 11-rebound double-double against West Virginia... D’Angelo Harrison adds 15.8 points per game and God’sgift Achiuwa averages 10.3 points and 6.4 boards per outing... head coach Steve Lavin is in his second season leading the St. John’s program.

The Series: Wednesday is the 28th meeting between the two programs... DePaul holds a 14-13 advantage in the series... St. John’s has won each of the last four meetings... in BIG EAST play, the Red Storm has won five of eight meetings... the last meeting at Allstate Arena on Mar. 5, 2010 saw the two sides to to triple overtime before the Red Storm oulasted the Blue Demons, 90-82... St. John’s is one of three BIG EAST teams DePaul plays twice this season... the Blue Demons travel to Queens on Feb. 20.

The Last Meeting: A 12-0 run late in the first half opened up a 33-14 lead for St. John’s and the Red Storm never looked back in a 76-51 victory on Feb. 23, 2001 at Carnesecca Arena... St. John’s led by as many as 30 points in the second half and combined to shoot .544 as a team while holding DePaul to a .309 team field goal percentage... Dwight Hardy led St. John’s with 21 points while D.J. Kennedy added an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double... Cleveland Melvin was the lone DePaul player in double-figures with 16 points in what would be his final game of the 2010-11 season.. Melvin injured his left thumb in the game and missed the last four games of the season due to the injury.

It’s Been Awhile: Through 20 games in the 2011-12 campaign, the current edition of DePaul basketball is posting some numbers that haven’t been seen in some time for the Blue Demons:
- DePaul's scoring average of 74.6 points per game is the highest since a 79.2 scoring average during the 1994-95 season.
- DePaul’s 8.6 steals per game, 14.7 assists per game and +4.1 turnover margin are the highest season averages dating back to the 2002-03 season.
- DePaul’s team .699 free throw percentage is the highest since a .700 mark during the 2005-06 season.
- DePaul’s 7.4 three’s per game are the most since the 2007-08 team averaged 7.7 per game.
- DePaul’s 11 wins are the most since the 2007-08 squad posted 11 victories... the three road wins are the most since the 2007-08 team went 3-9 on the road... the 2011-12 team is 3-3 with five regular-season away games remaining.... DePaul’s two BIG EAST victories are the most since a 6-12 league record in 2007-08.

It Could Happen: A win would give DePaul back-to-back BIG EAST wins for the first time since the start of the 2007-08 conference schedule... the Blue Demons started that league slate with an 84-76 win against Villanova and a 70-65 decision against Providence... Cleveland Melvin needs one blocked shots to move in a tie for 16th all-time at DePaul... Jeremiah Kelly needs three steals for 150 career... the three steals would also move him up to eighth all-time at DePaul... a loss would give DePaul three straight home losses for the first time this season.

Brandon Could Join Rod: With seven assists, sophomore Brandon Young could be the first player since Rod Strickland to record at least 100 assists in each of his freshman and sophomore seasons at DePaul. Strickland (1985-88) dished out 159 assists as a freshman in 1985-86 and 196 assists during his sophomore season in 1986-87. Young totaled 115 assists during his rookie campaign last season and enters the St. John’s game with 93 assists this season.

Junior-college transfer Joe Daughrity accomplished the feat in his two seasons with DePaul as a junior and senior. He totaled 134 assists in 1990-91 and 145 helpers in 1991-92 after transferring from Oxnard CC.

Demon Doings: Notes following DePaul’s 69-64 win at Rutgers on Jan. 25:
- The win ended a season-high five-game losing streak.
- The Blue Demons are 4-0 this season Wednesday... when trailing with five minutes left, DePaul is 2-9... when trailing at halftime, DePaul is 3-8... when holding opponents to less than 70 points, the Blue Demons are 6-0.
- DePaul is 3-3 in away games this season... the three victories on opponent courts are the most since the 2007-08 team went 3-9 on the road.
- DePaul shot a season-high .474 (9-19) from three-point range... the 24 first-half points were the fewest in a first half this season.
- Jamee Crockett set a career high in scoring for the second straight game... the freshman scored 15 points against USF on Sunday... he also grabbed a career-high seven rebounds... seventh career game in double-figures.
- Cleveland Melvin reached double-figures for the 18th time this season (37th career)... Brandon Young scored in double-figures for the 17th time this season (37th career).
- Jeremiah Kelly played in his 114th career game... Krys Faber played in his 109th career game.
- Wednesday was the eighth meeting between the two teams... Rutgers leads the series, 5-3.
 -The win snapped a four-game losing streak against Rutgers... DePaul is 2-2 all-time at The RAC.

League Leaders: In BIG EAST games only through Jan. 29, DePaul guards Worrel Clahar and Jeremiah Kelly sit atop two categories in the BIG EAST statistical rankings. Clahar is first in three-point field goal percentage with a .600 (9-15) mark while Kelly is first in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.63. Kelly has 29 assists to just eight turnovers in eight conference games. Kelly is second in all games with a ratio of 2.69 (78 asts./29 TO) in 20 games this season.

Three Decades in Rosemont: DePaul is in its 32nd season in 2011-12 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill. The Blue Demons are 310-137 (.694) all-time in Rosemont. DePaul played its first season at the then-named Rosemont Horizon in 1980. The Blue Demons debuted in Rosemont with a 74-56 win over Gonzaga and John Stockton on Dec. 1, 1980.
