Blue Demons Host Hoyas Monday Night in Rosemont

CHICAGO - DePaul wraps up its brief two-game homestand with a Monday night contest against Georgetown. The Blue Demons opened the two games in three days run with a 77-72 loss against Providence on Saturday afternoon. Start time at Allstate Arena between the Blue Demons and Hoyas is scheduled for 8 p.m.

Monday's game will be televised on FOX Sports 1 with Eric Collins (play-by-play) and Stephen Bardo (analyst) handling the television duties. DePaul enters the game at 10-12 overall and 2-7 in conference play after the five-point loss against the Friars. That loss extended DePaul's streak to a season-high four straight defeats. DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell is in his fourth season at DePaul and his 26th as a head coach at the collegiate level. Georgetown is 12-9 overall and 3-6 in the BIG EAST after a 64-60 win over No. 7/6 Michigan State at Madison Square Garden on Saturday. Georgetown coach John Thompson III is in his 10th season leading the Hoyas. Georgetown won the first meeting of the season between the two sides by a 61-54 score on Dec. 31.

Following the Georgetown game, DePaul travels to Creighton on Friday, Feb. 7 for an 8 p.m. game against the 20th-ranked Bluejays. The game can be seen on FOX Sports 1 and heard on WSCR 670 AM.

Noting the Blue Demons: The men's basketball program is 1,405-913 (.606) all-time... the 80-71 win at Milwaukee on Nov. 19 was game No. 2,300 in program history since the first fully-recognized season in 1923-24... men's basketball was played at DePaul prior to that season but records are incomplete... the 81-70 win over Florida Atlantic on Dec. 12 was win No. 1,400 since start of 1923-24 season... the Blue Demons have knocked down at least one three-pointer in 633 straight games... DePaul Drops BIG EAST Opener at Georgetown
DePaul battled but couldn't overcome a six-minute field goal drought in the second half as the Blue Demons fell, 61-54, at Georgetown on Tuesday evening. Billy Garrett Jr. led DePaul with 17 points and Brandon Young added 13 in the loss.

The Last Meeting: Georgetown defeated DePaul, 61-54, on Dec. 31, 2013 at Verizon Center... the game was the BIG EAST opener for both teams... Markel Starks led the Hoyas with 21 points and D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera added 12 with eight rebounds... Billy Garrett Jr. led DePaul with 17 points and Brandon Young scored 13... the Blue Demons led, 23-15, in the first half before a 14-2 run by Georgetown gave the Hoyas a 29-25 lead at intermission... Georgetown gradually built a 12-point advantage and held the Blue Demons without a field goal over a six-minute stretch in the second half... DePaul outrebounded the Hoyas by a 39-33 margin, but shot just .500 (13-26) from the free throw line.
