CHICAGO - DePaul hosts Villanova in a BIG EAST contest Tuesday evening at Allstate Arena. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start in the 24th all-time meeting between the two programs.
The Blue Demons are playing the third game of a seven-day, three-game stretch that has seen a pair of overtime losses. DePaul opened the week last Wednesday with a 79-74 overtime loss at St. John's before falling, 79-71, in overtime on Saturday against Notre Dame.
Tuesday's game will be televised on ESPN2 at 6 p.m. with John Saunders (play-by-play) and Bob Wenzel (analyst) handling the television duties. The broadcast is also available online at WatchESPN.com. DePaul looks to end a six-game losing streak and stands at 10-11 overall and 1-7 in the BIG EAST while Villanova has dropped five of its last seven games and holds a 13-9 overall record and 4-5 mark in league play. DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell is in his third season at DePaul and his 25th as a head coach at the collegiate level. Villanova's Jay Wright is in his 12th season leading the Wildcats.
Following the Villanova game, DePaul travels to Marquette for a Saturday afternoon game with the Golden Eagles. The 1 p.m. game can be seen in Chicago on The U Too as part of the BIG EAST Network and heard on WSCR 670 AM.
Noting the Blue Demons: The men's basketball program is 1,394-891 (.610) all-time... the Blue Demons have knocked down at least one three-pointer in 600 straight games... Demon Doings: Notes following DePaul's 79-71 overtime loss against Notre Dame on Feb. 2:
- The game was the 103rd meeting between DePaul and Notre Dame... Notre Dame leads the series by a 59-44 advantage... the Irish have won eight straight games against the Blue Demons.
- With Jamee Crockett's three-pointer to open the scoring for the Blue Demons, DePaul extended its streak to 600 consecutive games with a three-pointer.
- The Blue Demons played an overtime game for the second straight game... it is the first time with back-to-back overtime games since the 1987-88 season... the Blue Demons lost to Pepperdine, 84-76, on Nov. 28 and defeated Niagara, 88-87, in overtime.

Blue Demons in the NCAA & BIG EAST Stat Rankings: Through games of Feb. 3, DePaul is 30th in the NCAA rankings with an average of 8.8 steals per game and 56th with a scoring average of 73.1 points per game. Through games of Feb. 3, the Blue Demons are third in steals (8.81 spg) and scoring (73.1 ppg) among the 15 BIG EAST programs.
Individually, Cleveland Melvin is ranked among national leaders in scoring, field goal percentage, rebounding and double-doubles while Brandon Young is ranked in scoring, field goal percentage, assists and assist-to-turnover ratio. Donnavan Kirk is also ranked among the top shot blockers.
In the BIG EAST rankings through games of Feb. 3, Cleveland Melvin is the league's only player ranked among the top 10 in scoring and rebounding and Young is the lone player ranked in the top nine in scoring and assists. Melvin is third in rebounding and eighth in scoring with Notre Dame's Jack Cooley as the next-closest player at first in rebounding and 11th in scoring. Young is seventh in scoring and eight in assists with Connecticut's Ryan Boatright as the next-closest player at seventh in assists and ninth in scoring. Who's Next: The Blue Demons take a bus trip to Milwaukee to face Marquette on Saturday at 1 p.m... the Golden Eagles - ranked No. 24 in this week's AP poll - stand at 15-5 overall and 6-2 in BIG EAST games...
