Blue Demons Travel to Face 12th-Ranked Bluejays in Omaha

CHICAGO - DePaul goes on the road for its third game in seven days with a Friday night contest at 12th-ranked Creighton. The meeting is the second this season between the two schools with the Bluejays taking the first matchup on Jan. 7 at Allstate Arena. Start time at CenturyLink Center Omaha between the Blue Demons and Bluejays is scheduled for 8 p.m.

Friday's game will be televised on FOX Sports 1 with Cory Provus (play-by-play) and Kevin O'Neill (analyst) handling the television duties. DePaul enters the game at 10-13 overall and 2-8 in conference play after a 71-59 loss against Georgetown on Monday night. That loss extended DePaul's streak to a season-high five straight defeats. DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell is in his fourth season at DePaul and his 26th as a head coach at the collegiate level. Creighton - ranked No. 12 in both of this week's national polls - is 18-3 overall and 8-1 in the BIG EAST which puts the Bluejays in a tie for first with Villanova at the halfway point of the league slate. Creighton coach Greg McDermott is in his fourth season leading the Bluejays. Creighton won the first meeting of the season between the two sides by an 81-62 score on Jan. 7 at Allstate Arena.

Following the Creighton game, DePaul hosts sixth-ranked Villanova on Wednesday night at Allstate Arena. The 7 p.m. game can be seen on FOX Sports 1 and heard on WIND 560 AM.

Noting the Blue Demons: The men's basketball program is 1,405-914 (.606) all-time... the 80-71 win at Milwaukee on Nov. 19 was game No. 2,300 in program history since the first fully-recognized season in 1923-24... men's basketball was played at DePaul prior to that season but records are incomplete... the 81-70 win over Florida Atlantic on Dec. 12 was win No. 1,400 since start of 1923-24 season... the Blue Demons have knocked down at least one three-pointer in 634 straight games... Young Finishes with Game-High 24 in Loss to Creighton
Senior guard Brandon Young finished with a season-high 24 points, but it wasn't enough as DePaul fell 81-62 to visiting Creighton on Tuesday at Allstate Arena.

The Last Meeting: Creighton posted an 81-62 win over DePaul on Jan. 7, 2014 at Allstate Arena... Doug McDermott led five Bluejays in double-figures with 19 points... Brandon Young led all scorers with 24 points for DePaul... DePaul closed a 15-point deficit to 62-56 with just over seven minutes left in the second half... Creighton answered by outscoring DePaul, 19-6, over the final seven minutes... Avery Dingman added 16 for Creighton along with 12 on four three's from Ethan Wragge... Cleveland Melvin added 16 points and six rebounds for DePaul.
