CHICAGO - The 112th edition of the DePaul-Marquette series takes place Saturday afternoon in Milwaukee at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. The Blue Demons and Golden Eagles are scheduled for a 1 p.m. start with Marquette holding a 67-44 advantage in the series.

The Blue Demons are looking to snap a seven-game losing streak that was extended on Tuesday night with a 94-71 loss at Villanova. Marquette has won three of its last four including a 70-47 win at USF on Wednesday night.

Saturday’s game will be televised on The U Too (WCIU-DT2) in Chicago as part of the BIG EAST Network with Quint Kessenich (play-by-play) and John Celestand (analyst) handling the television duties. The broadcast is also available online on ESPN3. DePaul stands at 10-12 overall and 1-8 in the BIG EAST while Marquette - ranked No. 24 in this week’s AP poll - holds a 16-5 overall record and 7-2 mark in league play. DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell is in his third season at DePaul and his 25th as a head coach at the collegiate level. Marquette’s Buzz Williams is in his fifth season leading the Golden Eagles.

Following the Marquette game, DePaul travels to Notre Dame for a Wednesday night game with the Fighting Irish. The 7 p.m. ET game can be seen in Chicago on The U Too as part of the BIG EAST Network and heard on WSCR 670 AM. Notre Dame knocked off DePaul, 79-71, in overtime at Allstate Arena on Feb. 2.

Noting the Blue Demons: The men’s basketball program is 1,394-892 (.610) all-time... the Blue Demons have knocked down at least one three-pointer in 601 straight games... DePaul’s last game without a three was Feb. 16, 1993 against UAB at Allstate Arena... the Blue Demons are 316-148 (.681) all-time at Allstate Arena... DePaul is 7-1 (.875) all-time in games at McGrath-Phillips Arena... in each of Oliver Purnell’s three seasons at DePaul, the Blue Demons have faced three Chicagoland opponents during the non-conference portion of the schedule with an 8-1 record in those games... in the Purnell era, the Blue Demons are 15-3 (6-0 in 2012-13) when scoring 80 or more points... DePaul has used seven different starting lineups this season... Cleveland Melvin and Brandon Young have started every game this season... DePaul is scheduled to have at least 27 games televised during the 2012-13 season... DePaul played back-to-back overtime games on Jan. 30 at St. John’s and Feb. 2 against Notre Dame for the first time since the 1987-88 season... DePaul has never played three straight overtime games.

The Opponent - Marquette Golden Eagles: Marquette enters Saturday’s game at 16-5 overall and 7-2 in BIG EAST play... the Golden Eagles knocked off USF, 70-47, in Tampa on Wednesday night... Marquette is tied with Syracuse for first place in the BIG EAST entering this weekend’s action and hold a 21-game winning streak at the BMO Harris Bradley Center... Vander Blue leads the team with 14.9 points per game... Davante Gardner adds 12.0 points and a team-high 5.3 rebounds per game... head coach Buzz Williams is in his fifth season leading the Marquette program... former DePaul head coach Jerry Wainwright (2005-10) is in his first season on the Marquette staff... current DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell is 4-7 all-time against the Golden Eagles.

The Series: Saturday is the 112th meeting between the two programs... the Marquette series is the longest-running series for the Blue Demons... following the Marquette series is the Notre Dame series at 103 games... Marquette leads the series, 67-44... the Golden Eagles have won the last three meetings... DePaul’s last win at Marquette was a 55-35 decision on Feb. 16, 2000... a year ago, the No. 18/19 Golden Eagles posted an 89-76 win at Allstate Arena on Feb. 6.

The Last Meeting: No. 18/19 Marquette defeated DePaul, 89-76, on Feb. 6, 2012 at Allstate Arena... DePaul started quickly and opened up 37-25 lead before increasing the margin to 41-29 with 4:27 left in the first half... Marquette finished the first half with an 11-2 run and opened the second half with a 16-3 run... the Golden Eagles combined to shoot .525 (32-61) from the field while going 22-for-23 (.957) from the free throw line... Cleveland Melvin led DePaul with 22 points while Jamee Crockett added 17 and Worrel Clahar scored a career-high 16... Darius Johnson-Odom led Marquette with 23 points and Jamil Wilson added 18... all five Marquette starters finished in double-figures.

It Could Happen: Brandon Young needs three assists to record at least 100 assists in three straight seasons... he would be the first player since Rod Strickland (1985-88) with 100 or more assists in three straight seasons... a win snaps a season-high seven-game losing streak... it also ends a 37-game losing streak for DePaul against ranked opponents... DePaul’s last win over a ranked opponent was an 84-76 victory over No. 17/16 Villanova on Jan. 3, 2008... Cleveland Melvin (1,293 pts., 528 rebs.) needs 14 points to move into 20th on DePaul’s scoring list and six rebounds to move into 14th all-time... with 20 points, Brandon Young (1,203 pts.) moves from a tie for 30th to 26th on DePaul’s all-time scoring list... with six assists, Young (359 asts.) moves into DePaul’s top 10... Donnavan Kirk (72 blks.) needs two rejections to move into 14th all-time.

Demon Doings: Notes following DePaul’s 94-71 loss against Villanova on Feb. 5:
- Tuesday was the 24th all-time meeting between DePaul and Villanova... the Wildcats lead the series by a 16-8 margin... Villanova has won six straight meetings in the series.
- Brandon Young’s first three-pointer moved him into a tie for 18th on DePaul’s career three-point field goal list... he is tied with Rashon Burno (1998-02).
- Worrel Clahar’s three three-pointers matched a career high... previously he made three three’s at Louisville on Jan. 14, 2012.

Fun With Numbers: St. John’s is the only team to defeat DePaul this season when shooting less than 40 percent... Blue Demons are 5-1 when holding opponents under .400 from the field... DePaul is 2-0 this season on Friday and Sunday... DePaul’s .900 (18-20) mark at St. John’s on Jan. 30 was the highest team free throw percentage since going 13-for-13 against Minnesota on Nov. 24, 2011 at the Old Spice Classic... the .277 (18-65) field goal percentage at Pittsburgh on Jan. 26 was the lowest team field goal percentage since a .241 (14-58) mark at Northwestern on Dec. 6, 2008... on 12/12/12, No. 12 Cleveland Melvin scored 12 points at Arizona State... a year earlier on 11/11/11, No. 11 Jeremiah Kelly scored 11 points against UT-Pan American.

Blue Demons in the NCAA & BIG EAST Stat Rankings: Through games of Feb. 3, DePaul is 30th in the NCAA rankings with an average of 8.8 steals per game and 56th with a scoring average of 73.1 points per game. Through games of Feb. 6, the Blue Demons are third in steals (8.55 spg) and scoring (73.0 ppg) among the 15 BIG EAST programs.

Individually, Cleveland Melvin is ranked among national leaders in scoring, field goal percentage, rebounding and double-doubles while Brandon Young is ranked in scoring, field goal percentage, assists and assist-to-turnover ratio. Donnavan Kirk is also ranked among the top shot blockers.

In the BIG EAST rankings through games of Feb. 6, Cleveland Melvin is the league’s only player ranked among the top 10 in scoring and rebounding and Young is the lone player ranked in the top eight in scoring and assists. Melvin is third in rebounding and seventh in scoring with Georgetown’s Otto Porter as the next-closest player at fifth in rebounding and 12th in scoring. Young is eighth in scoring and assists with Connecticut’s Ryan Boatright as the next-closest player at seventh in assists and ninth in scoring. Who’s Next: The Blue Demons play Notre Dame for the second time in 12 days... DePaul travels to South Bend on Feb. 13 for a 7 p.m. ET game...
