CHICAGO - DePaul hosts Rutgers on Saturday afternoon in the lone home game of a three-game stretch that opened with road losses at Marquette and Notre Dame. The Blue Demons and Scarlet Knights are scheduled for a Noon start at Allstate Arena.

The Blue Demons enter the game looking to snap a nine-game losing streak that was extended on Wednesday night with an 82-78 overtime loss at No. 21/21 Notre Dame. DePaul has come up short in overtime in three of its last five defeats including two against the Fighting Irish. Rutgers ended a six-game losing streak on Tuesday night with a two-point win over Seton Hall.

Saturday's game will be televised on ESPNU with Beth Mowins (play-by-play) and Tim Welsh (analyst) handling the television duties. The broadcast is also available online at WatchESPN.com. DePaul stands at 10-14 overall and 1-10 in the BIG EAST while Rutgers holds a 13-10 overall record and 4-8 mark in league play. DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell is in his third season at DePaul and his 25th as a head coach at the collegiate level. Rutgers' Mike Rice is in his third season leading the Scarlet Knights.

Following the Rutgers game, DePaul goes back on the road for a Wednesday night game at No. 15/15 Georgetown. The Blue Demons and Hoyas are scheduled for a 7 p.m. ET start on The U Too/BIG EAST Network and WSCR 670 AM.

Noting the Blue Demons: The men's basketball program is 1,394-894 (.609) all-time... the Blue Demons have knocked down at least one three-pointer in 603 straight games... DePaul's last game without a three was Feb. 16, 1993 against UAB at Allstate Arena... the Blue Demons are 316-148 (.681) all-time at Allstate Arena... DePaul is 7-1 (.875) all-time in games at McGrath-Phillips Arena... in each of Oliver Purnell's three seasons at DePaul, the Blue Demons have faced three Chicagoland opponents during the non-conference portion of the schedule with an 8-1 record in those games... in the Purnell era, the Blue Demons are 15-3 (6-0 in 2012-13) when scoring 80 or more points... DePaul has used seven different starting lineups this season... Cleveland Melvin and Brandon Young have started every game this season... DePaul is scheduled to have at least 27 games televised during the 2012-13 season... The Opponent - Rutgers Scarlet Knights: Rutgers enters Saturday's game at 13-10 overall and 4-8 in BIG EAST play... a 57-55 win over Seton Hall on Tuesday snapped a six-game losing streak... Eli Carter leads the team with 15.4 points per game... Myles Mack adds a scoring average of 12.6 with a team-high 43 three-pointers... head coach Mike Rice is in his third season leading the Rutgers program... DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell is 1-1 all-time against the Scarlet Knights.

The Series: Saturday is the ninth meeting between the two programs... Rutgers holds a 5-3 advantage in the series... DePaul won two of the first three meetings before Rutgers won four in-a-row... the Blue Demons posted a 69-64 win at Rutgers last season... Rutgers last win in the series was a 68-64 decision at Allstate Arena on March 2, 2011... each of the last four meetings have been decided by nine points or less including three by five or less.

The Last Meeting: Jamee Crockett scored 20 points in 20 minutes off the bench to lead DePaul to a 69-64 win at Rutgers on Jan. 25, 2012... Crockett added seven rebounds while going 6-for-8 from the field, 5-of-7 from three-point range and 3-of-3 from the free throw line... he scored 17 of his then career-high 20 in the second half... Rutgers led 50-39 with 10:21 remaining before Crockett hit the first of four straight three's to lead the comeback... he was 5-of-5 on three-pointers in the second half... Cleveland Melvin added 14 points and Brandon Young chipped in 11 for DePaul... Myles Mack led Rutgers with 22 points and Jerome Seagears added 14.

It Could Happen: A win snaps a season-high nine-game losing streak... Cleveland Melvin (1,325 points) needs five points to move into 19th and 10 points to move into 18th on DePaul's scoring list... with 13 points, Brandon Young (1,244 points) moves into 24th place... Young (371 assists) needs three assists to move into ninth all-time... with three blocked shots, Donnavan Kirk (77 blocks) move up to 12th on the all-time blocked shots chart.

Demon Doings: Notes following DePaul's 82-78 overtime loss at No. 21/21 Notre Dame on Feb. 13:
- Wednesday was the 104th all-time meeting between DePaul and Notre Dame... the Irish lead the series, 60-44... Notre Dame has won nine straight games against the Blue Demons including two this season.
- Cleveland Melvin moved into 20th place on DePaul's all-time scoring list... Melvin scored at least 20 points in his 25th career game.
- Brandon Young moved into 25th on DePaul's all-time scoring chart... Young has scored 20 or more in 20 career games.
- Melvin and Young each scored 20 or more for the second time this season.
- Donnavan Kirk scored a career-high 16 points for the second straight game.
- The seven turnovers by the Blue Demons were a season low and the fewest in a game since seven at Notre Dame on Feb. 11 last season.
- DePaul played its third overtime game of the season... the Blue Demons are 0-3 in overtime games... two of the three overtime games have been against Notre Dame... the three overtime games this season are the most since playing three during the 2010-11 season... DePaul played four overtime games during the 1997-98 campaign.
- The Blue Demons are 36-38 all-time in overtime games... DePaul has dropped eight straight overtime games... the last overtime win was a 68-66 decision in overtime against Detroit on Nov. 28, 2009.
- The loss was the 40th straight for DePaul against ranked opponents... the last win over a ranked opponent was an 84-76 win against No. 17/16 Villanova on Jan. 3, 2008.

Fun With Numbers: DePaul has scored the same amount of points in back-to-back games on three separate occasions this season (69 vs. Northern Illinois and UMBC, 71 vs. Notre Dame and Villanova, 78 vs. Marquette and Notre Dame)... with 109 assists this season, Brandon Young is the first player since Rod Strickland (1985-88) with at least 100 assists in three straight seasons... DePaul has combined to shoot at least .900 from the free throw line in two games this season (minimum 10 attempts)... it is the first time since the 1999-00 campaign with at least two games (minimum 10 attempts) with a .900 or better... DePaul's .900 (18-20) mark at St. John's on Jan. 30 was the highest team free throw percentage since going 13-for-13 against Minnesota on Nov. 24, 2011 at the Old Spice Classic... the Blue Demons bettered that mark at Marquette on Feb. 9 with a free throw percentage of .917 (11-12)... St. John's is the only team to defeat DePaul this season when shooting less than 40 percent... Blue Demons are 5-1 when holding opponents under .400 from the field...
