DePaul and Marquette Meet in Rosemont on Blue Demon Day

CHICAGO - With three of the four final regular-season games at Allstate Arena, the DePaul Blue Demons look to make a strong push heading into the BIG EAST Championship at Madison Square Garden in just over two weeks. The run opens Saturday afternoon against Marquette as the two teams meet for the second time this season and 114th time overall.

The Blue Demons and Golden Eagles are scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at Allstate Arena. The meeting is the second this season between the two schools with the Golden Eagles taking the first matchup on Jan. 4 at BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

Saturday's game will be televised on CBS Sports Network with Tom McCarthy (play-by-play) and Alaa Abdelnaby (analyst) handling the television duties. DePaul enters the game at 10-17 overall and 2-12 in conference play after an 83-64 loss at Xavier on Wednesday evening. That loss extended DePaul's streak to a season-high nine straight defeats. DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell is in his fourth season at DePaul and his 26th as a head coach at the collegiate level. Marquette is 15-11 overall and 7-6 in the BIG EAST and have won three of its last four games. Marquette coach Buzz Williams is in his sixth season leading the Golden Eagles. Marquette won the first meeting of the season between the two sides by a 66-56 score on Jan. 4 in Milwaukee.

Following the Marquette game, DePaul hosts Seton Hall on Tuesday night. The game between the Blue Demons and Pirates is scheduled for an 8 p.m. start at Allstate Arena.

Blue Demons Can't Hold Off Marquette in Milwaukee
Cleveland Melvin knocked down five three's en route to 22 points, but it wasn't enough as DePaul fell at Marquette, 66-56, on Saturday afternoon. Billy Garrett Jr. added 10 points as the Golden Eagles captured the 113th meeting in the all-time series.

The Last Meeting: Marquette overcame a four-point halftime deficit in a 66-56 win on Jan. 4, 2014 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center... Davante Gardner led Marquette with 28 points and six rebounds...
