Blue and Scarlet Square Off on Saturday
CHICAGO - The DePaul Blue Demons play the final road game of the regular season with a Saturday afternoon date at Rutgers. The Blue Demons enter the game looking for their first true road win of the season and an end 21-game losing streak in road games. The regular season wraps up next week with a pair of home games at Allstate Arena against USF and St. John's.
DePaul is 8-19 overall and 1-14 in BIG EAST action following the 74-69 loss at Cincinnati on Wednesday at Fifth Third Arena. The Blue Demons are looking to snap a season-high nine-game losing streak after posting a 1-7 mark in January. DePaul finished the non-conference portion of the regular-season schedule with a 7-5 record. DePaul dropped two of the last three non-conference games after starting the season with a 5-1 record. DePaul posted a 4-1 record in November before a 3-5 mark in December.
Rutgers has dropped two straight following a three-game winning streak that included a 68-64 win over DePaul at Allstate Arena on Feb. 16. The Scarlet Knights enter Saturday's action with a 14-14 overall record and 4-11 mark in BIG EAST play. Saturday's game is the sixth all-time meeting between the two programs with the Scarlet Knights holding a 3-2 advantage.
The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. ET start and can be seen on ESPNU Clay Matvick (play-by-play) and former Blue Demon Stephen Howard (analyst) handling the television duties. Following the Rutgers game, the Blue Demons return to Allstate Arena for the final two games of the regular season. The schedule concludes with home games against USF on Mar. 2 and St. John's on Mar. 5. The BIG EAST Championship opens on Mar. 9 at Madison Square Garden.
Noting the Blue Demons: The men's basketball program is 1,365-832 (.621) all-time... the Blue Demons have knocked down at least one three-pointer in 517 straight games...
