CHICAGO - DePaul concludes the regular-season slate with a Thursday night game against the Butler Bulldogs. DePaul is looking for a season sweep of the Bulldogs after posting a 99-94 win in double overtime on Jan. 9 at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Thursday’s game will be televised on FOX Sports 1 with Mike Gleason (play-by-play) and Kevin O’Neill (analyst) handling the television duties. DePaul enters the game at 11-19 overall and 3-14 in conference play after a 72-64 loss at St. John’s on Sunday afternoon. DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell is in his fourth season at DePaul and his 26th as a head coach at the collegiate level. Butler is 12-16 overall and 2-14 in the BIG EAST and have dropped its last seven games. Butler coach Brandon Miller is in his first season leading the Bulldogs.

Following the Butler game, DePaul travels to Madison Square Garden for the 2014 BIG EAST Tournament presented by New York Life and will play on Wednesday, March 12. The Blue Demons are either the ninth or 10th seed in the tournament depending on the outcome of Thursday’s game and this weekend’s action. Seton Hall is the No. 8 seed in the tournament regardless of the outcome of the remaining league schedule. The No. 9 seed faces the No. 8 seed at 7 p.m. ET and the No. 7 seed takes on the No. 10 seed at 9:30 p.m. ET.

DePaul Seniors Recognized in Pregame Ceremony: The senior class of the DePaul basketball program will be honored in a pregame ceremony prior to Thursday’s game. Sandi Marcius, Edwind McGhee, Brandon Young and manager Carlos Rodriguez will be recognized for their hard work and dedication during their time with the program.

Noting the Blue Demons: The men’s basketball program is 1,406-920 (.605) all-time... the 80-71 win at Milwaukee on Nov. 19 was game No. 2,300 in program history since the first fully-recognized season in 1923-24... men’s basketball was played at DePaul prior to that season but records are incomplete... the 81-70 win over Florida Atlantic on Dec. 12 was win No. 1,400 since start of 1923-24 season... the Blue Demons have knocked down at least one three-pointer in 641 straight games... DePaul’s last game without a three was Feb. 16, 1993 against UAB at Allstate Arena... the Blue Demons are 324-159 (.671) all-time at Allstate Arena... Blue Demons Win Thriller at Butler
Trailing by 11 points with just under four minutes left in the second half, visiting DePaul put together a furious comeback to force overtime and outlasted Butler in a 99-94 double-overtime thriller on Thursday night.

The Last Meeting: DePaul outlasted Butler, 99-94, in double overtime on Jan. 9, 2014 at Hinkle Fieldhouse... trailing by 11 points with just under four minutes left in the second half, visiting DePaul put together a furious comeback to force overtime... Cleveland Melvin led DePaul with 30 points and eight rebounds... Tommy Hamilton IV added a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double... Billy Garrett Jr. scored 22 and Brandon Young finished with 18 points.

It Could Happen: Brandon Young (1,840 pts.) needs 31 points to pass George Mikan (1,870 pts., 1942-46) for fourth on the all-time scoring list... a win gives DePaul the season sweep over Butler... a win gives DePaul four BIG EAST victories for the most since winning six in 2007-08.

Trending: In all games, DePaul leads the BIG EAST statistical rankings in offensive rebounds (12.6 orpg) and is second in steals (6.8 spg)... in league games only, the Blue Demons are third in offensive rebounds (11.5 orpg) and third in steals (6.6 spg)... four different players have recorded seven double-doubles this season... since the 2002-03 season, four teams have featured at least four players with a double-double... the 2003-04 squad had five (Andre Brown, Drake Diener, Quemont Greer, Delonte Holland, Sammy Mejia) with at least one double-double... Garrett Making Push For BIG EAST Rookie of the Year: DePaul freshman Billy Garrett Jr. is making a strong case for the BIG EAST Rookie of the Year award. The Chicago native has led all league rookies in scoring, assists and free throw percentage throughout the season.

Garrett would DePaul’s third conference Freshman/Rookie of the Year winner joining Quentin Richardson and Cleveland Melvin. Richardson was the 1999 Conference USA Freshman of the Year and Melvin was the BIG EAST Rookie of the Year in 2011. DePaul played as an independent until joining the Great Midwest Conference in 1991-92.

Made Em Jump Like Rod Strickland: While he’s not quite at Wu-Tang Clan-lyric status, senior guard Brandon Young has compiled stats that haven’t been seen at DePaul since the days of Rod Strickland from 1985-88. Over his three seasons, Strickland totaled 1,448 points and 557 assists while Young totaled 1,378 points and 408 assists through the end of his junior campaign.

As a junior, Young became the first DePaul guard since Strickland with three straight seasons of at least 100 assists and against Pittsburgh on March 9, 2013, he put himself in his own category as the only player in program history with at least 1,200 points, 400 assists and 100 three-pointers. Young added another chapter to the DePaul record books this year on Feb. 22 against Marquette when he record his 100th assist for the fourth straight season. He is the only player in program history with at least 100 assists in four straight seasons.

Strickland concluded his DePaul career with a scoring average of 16.6 points along with 6.4 assists per game in 87 career games. Entering the Butler game, Young’s career averages are 15.0 points and 4.2 assists in 123 career games. Strickland played for nine NBA teams from 1988-05 and is currently on the Kentucky staff as special assistant to the head coach.

Three Decades in Rosemont: DePaul is in its 34th season in 2013-14 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill. The Blue Demons are 324-159 (.671) all-time in Rosemont. DePaul played its first season at the then-named Rosemont Horizon in 1980. The Blue Demons debuted in Rosemont with a 74-56 win over Gonzaga and John Stockton on Dec. 1, 1980.
