Drake Diener Named Conference USA Player of the Week



CHICAGO -- Drake Diener, who played an instrumental role in helping DePaul claim a share of the Conference USA regular-season championship (its first title since winning the 1991-92 Great Midwest crown) and the top seed in the C-USA Tournament in Cincinnati, has been named the league’s Player of the Week it was announced by the conference office today.

   

Against No. 12 Cincinnati on Thursday, Diener scored a game-high 17 points and provided five assists to lead the Blue Demons to a 68-65 home win. On Saturday, he logged 12 points and had five assists to help DePaul to a 78-66 victory at USF. With the two wins, the Blue Demons set school single-season records for conference wins (12) and conference road victories (6).

   

It is the second time this season that Diener has won the award. He was named the Player of the Week on January 19 as well.
