Blue Demons Add Big Man Sandi Marcius For Next Season

CHICAGO - DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell announced today that Sandi Marcius has transferred and will join the Blue Demons for the 2013-14 season. The 6-10 forward will be eligible to play immediately as a graduate student after earning his degree at Purdue and will have one season with the Blue Demons.
The Nedelisce, Croatia, native played three seasons at Purdue totaling 75 games with 13 starts. Over the last 11 games of last season, he averaged 6.8 points and 3.6 rebounds that included a career-high 13 points against No. 7/8 Michigan on March 6. Prior to the Michigan game, Marcius scored 10 points with three steals in an upset win at No. 17/16 Wisconsin on March 3.
Overall, the Academic All-Big Ten honoree shot .504 from the field while averaging 2.1 points and 2.1 rebounds per game in his three seasons in West Lafayette. During his junior season, he averaged 3.3 points and 2.5 rebounds in just under 10 minutes per game.
Marcius was ranked as the No. 14 center by ESPN after playing at La Lumiere School in La Porte, Ind. He averaged 15 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocked shots as a senior for the Lakers.
