Blue Demons Add Transfer Jalen Coleman-Lands

CHICAGO – DePaul head coach Dave Leitao announced today that Jalen Coleman-Lands has joined the program as a transfer. Under NCAA transfer guidelines, Coleman-Lands will sit out the 2017-18 season after playing his first two years at Illinois.

“Jalen Coleman-Lands provides our program another elite long-range shooter as well as a dynamic scorer and playmaker for the 2018-19 season,” said Leitao. “For the upcoming season, he’ll provide our team great competition in practice and as a player with two years of experience he’ll give us leadership on and off the court.”

Coleman-Lands averaged 9.1 points per game in 69 career games at Illinois from 2015-17. The Indianapolis native shot .402 (158-393) from three-point range and led the Illini in three-pointer in each of his two seasons. His 87 three’s in 2015-16 set an Illinois freshman record while he averaged 10.3 points per game. As a sophomore, Coleman-Lands averaged 8.0 points per game with a team-high 71 three-pointers. He has totaled 30 career games with three or more three-pointers.

A consensus top 50 recruit out of high school, Coleman-Lands played at La Lumiere School under current DePaul assistant coach Shane Heirman. He played in the Jordan Brand Classic in 2015 and was ranked No. 34 nationally by 247Sports, No. 39 by and No. 42 by
