July 22, 2014
CHICAGO – DePaul University announced today that DeJuan Marrero has left the program and transferred to Chipola College (Fla.). Marrero played in 25 games in his one season of competition at DePaul in 2013-14.
“DeJuan is looking for a situation where he feels he’ll have more of an opportunity to play and develop,” said head coach Oliver Purnell. “I understand it and wish him nothing but the best.”
Marrero played in 25 games with three starts during his freshman season and averaged 1.2 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. The Gary, Indiana native scored a career-high six points with six rebounds at Illinois State and totaled five points and a career-best seven rebounds at Seton Hall.
Marrero missed the 2012-13 season after suffering a knee injury in the preseason.
