Aug. 9, 2011
CHICAGO – DePaul transfer Donnavan Kirk has been added to the roster for a tour of Belgium, Holland and London hosted by Global Sports Academy. Under NCAA transfer regulations, Kirk is not allowed to travel with the Blue Demons to France this week, but is allowed to travel and compete in games with the Global Sports Academy team.
The trip features four games while touring Belgium, Holland and London. On Aug. 11 Kirk faces BC Geel before a game against Holland’s U-23 National Team on Aug. 12. While in Amsterdam, the team takes on Leiden 2 on Aug. 13 before the fourth game on Aug. 14 against Basics Melsele in Belgium. The final game of the trip will be Aug. 16 against an opponent to be determined. Rider associate head coach Kevin Baggett is the head coach for the European tour.
While in Europe, Kirk and his teammates will see the sights in Brussels and Mechelen in Belgium, Amsterdam in Holland and a day trip to London.
Kirk transferred to DePaul from Miami (Fla.) in January 2011 and will be eligible to play for DePaul at the end of the 2011 Autumn Quarter. DePaul’s Autumn Quarter exams are scheduled to end on Nov. 22. The 6-9 forward played in 13 games during the 2010-11 season as a redshirt freshman for the Hurricanes. He averaged 2.7 points and 1.6 rebounds in 9.5 minutes of action. The Pontiac, Mich., native shot .406 (13-32) from the field and .900 (9-10) from the free throw line while making three starts for the Hurricanes.
While Kirk is touring Belgium, Holland and London, the Blue Demons will be in France from Aug. 11-21. DePaul plays four games while walking in the footsteps of St. Vincent de Paul – the namesake of DePaul University.
