MERRIONETTE PARK, Ill. - DePaul basketball fans and alumni got to double their pleasure on Monday night at the Coaches Caravan that took place at the 115 Bourbon Street sports and entertainment complex.

They got the scoop on the Blue Demons' men's and women's basketball programs and also whooped it up as the Bears edged the Green Bay Packers 20-17 on Monday Night Football to become the last undefeated team in the NFC.

De Paul Director of Athletics Jean Lenti Ponsetto gave the enthusiastic crowd a rundown on the upcoming women's basketball season, pinch-hitting for coach Doug Bruno.

Bruno was in the Czech Republic Monday night working as an assistant coach on the USA Women's National Team and helping guide Team USA to an 87-46 triumph over Canada in the second round of the 2010 FIBA World Championship for Women.

Men's basketball coach Oliver Purnell delivered a strong presentation in drumming up support for the Blue Demons. He spoke about restoring DePaul's winning tradition, beginning with attracting the top Chicago-area recruits to the campus in Lincoln Park.

Purnell told the crowd that DePaul fans can have an immediate impact on accelerating the return to the glory years by attending games at Allstate Arena.

A number of fans at 115 Bourbon Street said this was the most excited they have been about the men's basketball program in recent years.
