Wesley Green To Have Season-Ending Shoulder Surgery
CHICAGO – DePaul’s Wesley Green will undergo shoulder surgery and will miss the entire 2003-04 season it was announced today by Blue Demon head coach Dave Leitao.
“This is a very unfortunate situation for Wesley,” Leitao said. “We will provide Wesley with the opportunity to rehabilitate his shoulder with our medical and strength and conditioning staffs after the surgery is completed so he can prepare to be in top physical condition when the 2004-05 season begins.”
“I wanted to try and play through the pain but it just wasn’t possible,” Green said. “I am already looking forward to getting 100-percent healthy and returning even stronger next season.”
A 6-9, 265-pound freshman from Eustis, Florida, Green was the runner-up for Mr. Basketball in the state of Florida last season after averaging 23 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and four blocks per game. A High honorable mention All-American by Street & Smith’s, he was tabbed as the 28th-best player in the nation by Rivals.com and the 11th-best center in the nation by Rivals.com.
