Locally Grown: The 2013-14 DePaul roster features eight players from the state of Illinois. In addition to the eight from Illinois, a total of nine players are from the Chicagoland area.

The nine Chicagoland members on the roster include Jamee Crockett (Chicago, Ill.), R.J. Curington (Dyer, Ind.), Cory Dolins (Northbrook, Ill.), Billy Garrett Jr. (Chicago, Ill.), Tommy Hamilton IV (Chicago, Ill.), Myke Henry (Chicago, Ill.), DeJuan Marrero (Gary, Ind.), Charles McKinney (Evanston, Ill.) and Peter Ryckbosch (Chicago, Ill.).

The eighth state of Illinois native is Champaign’s Edwind McGhee.

In addition to Illinois, four states and two countries are also represented on DePaul’s roster with Curington and Marrero from Indiana, Cleveland Melvin and Brandon Young from Maryland, Nevada’s Durrell McDonald and Forrest Robinson from Texas. Sandi Marcius is a native of Nedelisce, Croatia and Greg Sequele is from Sainte-Rose, Guadeloupe.

Cleve(r) with the Dagger: With a 5-for-5 effort from behind the arc against Grambling State, DePaul senior forward Cleveland Melvin became just the fifth player in program history to go perfect in a game from threepoint range (minimum five attempts). He is the first to do it since Brandon Young went 6-for-6 against Central Michigan in Dec. 2010.

DePaul’s top three-point performance was an 8-for-8 effort by Draelon Burns against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Nov. 28, 2007. The eight three’s are a single-game record and the highest total without a miss in program history.

Wilson Chandler Extends NBA Streak to 39 Straight Years: With Wilson Chandler (2005-07) making his season debut on Nov. 13 against Los Angeles, he extended DePaul’s streak to 39 straight seasons with a former Blue Demon playing in the NBA. Chandler was sidelined to start the season with a hamstring injury and scored 12 points with five rebounds in Denver’s 111-99 win against the Lakers.

Bill Robinzine started the streak with Sacramento Kings in the 1975-76 season. A total of 17 players have played over the 39 straight years of DePaul influence in the NBA.

In addition to Chandler playing this season for Denver, Tyrone Corbin (1981-85) is in his third full season as head coach of the Utah Jazz. Corbin replaced Jerry Sloan during the 2010-11 season when Sloan announced his retirement. Corbin played for nine NBA teams during his pro career from 1985-01.

Jamee Crockett and Brandon Young each added 13 and Cleveland Melvin scored 11 points... the Blue Demons led, 45-27, at halftime and held the Panthers to just a .258 team field goal percentage for the game...
