CHICAGO - DePaul plays its second straight road game with a trip to Chicago’s southside for a Wednesday night game at Chicago State. The Blue Demons are looking to extend their current win streak to three straight starting at 7 p.m. at the Jones Convocation Center on Chicago State’s campus.

Wednesday’s game can be seen in Chicago on Lakeshore Public TV with Scott Slocum (play-by-play) and Kenny McReynolds (analyst) handling the television duties. DePaul’s radio duo of Zach Zaidman (play-by-play) and Jeff Blanzy (analyst) will call all the action on WSCR 670 AM. DePaul stands a 4-3 following an 80-76 win at Auburn on Friday in the SEC/BIG EAST Challenge. Chicago State enters the game at 2-7 after a 71-57 loss at SIU-Edwardsville on Saturday. DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell is in his third season at DePaul and his 25th as a head coach at the collegiate level. Chicago State’s Tracy Dildy is in his third season at Chicago State and was on the DePaul coaching staff from 1997-02.

Following the Chicago State game, DePaul returns to Allstate Arena for a matchup against Milwaukee. The Blue Demons and Panthers are scheduled for a 4 p.m. at Allstate Arena. Sunday’s game can be heard in Chicago on WYLL 1160 AM with streaming available on BlueTube.

Noting the Blue Demons: The men’s basketball program is 1,388-883 (.611) all-time... the Blue Demons have knocked down at least one three-pointer in 586 straight games... Demon Doings: Notes following DePaul’s 80-76 win at Auburn on Nov. 30 in the SEC/BIG EAST Challenge:
- DePaul is now 1-2 all-time in the annual event between the BIG EAST and SEC... the win snapped an eight-game losing streak against SEC programs... Friday was the first meeting between DePaul and Auburn.
- The Blue Demons are 13-3 under Oliver Purnell when scoring 80 or more points.
- Cleveland Melvin posted his second double-double of the season (ninth career)... it is his second double-double in the last three games... Melvin has reached double-figures in 21 consecutive games.
- Melvin’s 21 points move him into a tie for 43rd on DePaul’s all-time scoring list with Gene Stump (1943-47)... Melvin has 1,071 career points.
- Brandon Young passed Mike Gillespie (1971-74) for 51st place... Young has 960 points... he needs 40 points to become the 48th player in program history with 1,000 career points... Young’s streak of games in double-figures was extended to 11 games.
- Young has attempted at least four free throws in six straight games.

Blue Demons in the NCAA & BIG EAST Stat Rankings: Through games of Dec. 2, DePaul is 13th in the NCAA rankings with an average of 10.71 steals per contest. The figure is also ranked third among the 15 BIG EAST programs. The Blue Demons are also ranked in the nation’s top 50 with 76.6 points per game (47th), and a turnover margin of +3.4 (48th).

Individually, Cleveland Melvin is one of three players in the NCAA statistical rankings through games of Dec. 2 to average at least 20 points and eight rebounds per game. He is joined Jamaal Franklin from San Diego State (20.2 ppg/10.0 rpg) and VMI’s Stan Okoye (21.1 ppg/9.0 rpg). Melvin enters the Chicago State game with 20.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

In the BIG EAST rankings, only Brandon Young and Providence’s Bryce Cotton are among the top 15 in both scoring and assists. Young is ninth in scoring and 13th in assists while Cotton is first in scoring and tied for ninth in assists. Who’s Next: The Blue Demons host the Milwaukee Panthers on Sunday, Nov. 9... start time is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Allstate Arena... DePaul has won 10 of 11 meetings between the two programs... the Panthers claimed their first victory a year ago in Rosemont by an 87-76 score... Milwaukee stands at 2-5 with games scheduled against Buffalo (Dec. 5) and Northern Illinois (Dec. 7) before playing the Blue Demons.

There was no mistaking the tone of disappointment in Oliver Purnell's voice on Saturday. The DePaul coach was a little unhappy after the Blue Demons' 102-95 victory over winless Chicago State at Allstate Arena.
