Ohio Beats DePaul, 77-75
ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Brandon Hunter’s short jumper after a mad scramble with 33 seconds left enabled Ohio to beat DePaul 77-75 Wednesday night.
The Bobcats (3-0) got a season-high 25 points from Hunter, 15 from Jon Sanderson and 14 from Sonny Johnson.
The Blue Demons (2-2) played without starting point guard Imari Sawyer, who served a one-game suspension for punching Notre Dame guard Ryan Graves in the groin Saturday.
Senior Rashon Burno started for Sawyer, and his only points of the game - a 3-pointer with 56 seconds left - tied it at 75.
After DePaul's Lance Williams blocked a shot on Ohio's next possession, players battled several moments for control of the ball. Hunter finally emerged from the scrum and put in a one-handed shot from about 8 feet to give Ohio the lead.
Drake Diener had two long 3-point tries for DePaul, but missed both, the second as time expired.
Williams had 19 points for DePaul, while and Sam Hoskin added 16. Burno had 11 assists.
