CHCAGO - DePaul opens a six-day stretch that features three games starting Wednesday night at Wintrust Arena against Central Connecticut. Following Wednesday’s action, the Blue Demons play at UIC on Dec. 9 before returning to Wintrust Arena on Monday, Dec. 11 against Alabama A&M.
Wednesday’s game will be televised on FS1 with Jeff Levering (play-by-play) and Dickey Simpkins (analyst) handling the television duties. The game can also be seen online and on mobile devices with FOX Sports Go. DePaul’s radio tandem of Zach Zaidman (play-by-play) and Laurence Holmes (analyst) can be heard on WIND 560 AM as well as online on BlueTube at www.depaulbluedemons.com. Central Connecticut is 5-3 through eight games and enter Wednesday’s game with a five-game winning streak. DePaul head coach Dave Leitao is in his sixth season at DePaul and his third since returning to the program after leading the Blue Demons three postseasons in three years from 2002-05. Overall, the 2017-18 campaign is Leitao’s 12th as a head coach at the collegiate level. Central Connecticut is led by Donyell Marshall who is in his second season leading the Blue Devils.
Leitao-Marshall Ties Back to Connecticut: From 1991-94, DePaul head coach Dave Leitao and Central Connecticut head coach Donyell Marshall helped the Connecticut basketball program to a 64-28 record over that span that concluded with an appearance in the Sweet 16 of the 1994 NCAA Tournament. Following the 1993-94 season, Leitao accepted the head coaching position at Northeastern University while Marshall went on to a 15-year career in the NBA.
Noting the Blue Demons: The men’s basketball program is 1,440-991 (.592) all-time... the Blue Demons have knocked down at least one three-pointer in 746 straight games... DePaul’s last game without a three was Feb. 16, 1993 against UAB at Allstate Arena... the current streak started against Notre Dame on Feb. 21, 1993... DePaul is playing every home game under the same roof for the first time since the 2009-10 season... the last seven seasons have seen the Blue Demons play home games at Allstate Arena and McGrath-Phillips Arena... DePaul is 40-42 all-time in games that go to overtime... the Oregon game on Nov. 24 was the first overtime game this season.
The Opponent - Central Connecticut State Blue Devils: Central Connecticut is 5-3 following a 68-62 win at Brown on Saturday... the Blue Devils have won five straight since an 80-55 loss at St. John’s on Nov. 14... Tyler Cole leads the team with 14.1 points and 8.3 rebounds per game... Austin Nehls adds 13.8 points per game and a team-high 22 three-pointers... Mustafa Jones (11.1 ppg) and Deion Bute (10.3 ppg) also average in double-figures for Central Connecticut ... head coach Donyell Marshall is in his second season leading the Blue Devils... Marshall starred at Connecticut when DePaul head coach Dave Leitao was an assistant coach with the Huskies... Central Connecticut is located in New Britain, Conn. and is a member of the Northeast Conference... Leitao is facing Central Connecticut for the first time.
The Series: Wednesday is the first meeting between the two programs.

It Could Happen: A win would be the third straight for the Blue Demons and improve their record at Wintrust Arena to 3-1... with 10 points, Eli Cain records his 45th career game in double-figures... Marin Maric needs nine rebounds for 700 in his career (654 at Northern Illinois/37 at DePaul).
Demon Doings: Notes following DePaul’s 89-73 win against Youngstown State on Saturday:
- DePaul played its first home game in 19 days... prior to Saturday, the Blue Demons hosted Delaware State on Nov. 13.
- DePaul is shooting a combined .512 (66-129) from the field over the last two games compared to .367 (116-316) over first five games of season... from three-point range the difference is .419 (18-43) in last two games compared to .253 (24-95) in the first five contests.
- Five players reached double-figures for the first time this season... at least four have scored in double-figures in six of seven games this season... a year ago, the Blue Demons put at least four in double-figures six games total (32 games).
- Eli Cain played in his 70th career game... with 15 points he surpassed the 900-point plateau and has 908 career points.
