Murray State Holds Off DePaul
ROSEMONT, ILL – Murray State used a 12-0 run late in the first half to propel it to a 69-65 win over DePaul at the Allstate Arena on Tuesday night.
The win moved the Racers to 6-3 while the Blue Demons fell to 3-4.
DePaul was leading 36-32 with 2:08 remaining in the first half before Murray State put together its run keyed by a pair of 3pt. field goals from Kevin Paschel and Justin Burdine. The Blue Demons did come back in the early stages of the second half to take a two-point lead at 51-49 with 13:18 to play but Murray State was able to build the lead back to nine at 65-56 with 2:24 left.
DePaul made a late run to cut the contest to one at 66-5 on a 3pt. field goal by Marlon Brooks but that is as close as DePaul would get.
Burdine led the Racers with 25 points while Paschel added 15 and Antione Whelchel chipped in with 11.
DePaul was led by freshman Quemont Greer who scored a career-high 22 points while Sam Hoskin added 13. They were the only Blue Demons in double figures although Andre Brown did grab a game-high 14 rebounds.
DePaul will be in action again on Sunday when Long Island comes to the Allstate Arena at 5 p.m.
