Quemont Greer Named Conference USA Player of the Week for Second Consecutive Week

-- DePaul's Quemont Greer and Louisville's Francisco Garcia have been named the Conference USA men's basketball co-Players of the Week as selected by a panel of media covering the conference it was announced by the league today. Greer tallied two 20-point performances in wins over IUPUI and Notre Dame, while Garcia was instrumental in the Cardinals' road win at Florida.


Greer earns the honor for the second week in a row following two 20-point performances in DePaul's wins over IUPUI and Notre Dame. Greer also won the Wendell Smith Award as MVP of the Notre Dame game with his first double-double of the season, grabbing 14 rebounds. For the week, he shot 66.7 percent (16-24) from the field and drained four three-point field goals. Greer needs 33 points and 15 rebounds to become the 19th DePaul player to score 1,000 career points and grab 500 career rebounds.


The C-USA preseason Player of the Year received his first Player of the Week honor with his deeds in the Cardinals' 74-70 win at Florida. Garcia produced a career-high five steals and matched a career-best eight rebounds. He also tallied 19 points - his sixth game in double-figures - and four assists against the Gators. He was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. Garcia is just 81 points shy of becoming the 54th U of L 1,000-point career scorer.


DePaul (5-2) will be in action again on Wednesday when it travels to Northwestern for an 8 p.m. contest on ESPN2.
